Learn Bass Guitar

Would it be alright to learn bass without knwoing how to play guitar?

my father insisted that I continue learn to play the regular guitar before I learn to play bass guitar, but I really want to learn bass guitar immediately. im bored of the clarinet (IVE played for 6 years), so I know how to read music and everything. Your thoughts?

ABSOLUTELLY! My sister, aged of 15 years only started playing bass a year ago, and it is AMAZING! Also, she never learned to play the guitar regularly before She began playing bass.I would actually recommend starting at the low bass cuz a 4 string and a regular 6 string. They are totally different instruments …. so take my advice and start low. Tell your dad I said. They have many differences. In particular, strings that is probably the biggest tourist industry. So, good luck! BTW-If you buy a bass get a Fender Squire, they are awesome!
