Hello there, there is no "best" way. Whatever method works for you, use it. Many people learn to play guitar without bothering to learn to read music. Tab is a simple way write and read notes guitar. I can not imagine how tab Would allow you to discover the secrets of quick improvisation. Unless this means you do not spend the time learning to read music.
